Commentary:
RESULT: Barbados win by 58 run. Man of the Match is Tino Best for his outstanding first innings six wicket haul. Final scores: Barbados 403 and 154 for 9 declared; Guyana 229 and 270. We hope you enjoyed the commentary and live score updates throughout the four days, the intermittent breakage in transmission notwithstanding.
Bowling: Collins 13-1-56-2 (2nb), C Edwards 16-2-48-2, Best 8-1-52-1 (2nb), Benn 22-6--58-2, Hinds 10-1-29-0, Stoute 5.4-1-15-3
75ov [. 1 W] 270 all out: Mohammed 58*. Guyana fought bravely, minaly through the efforts of Shivnarine Chanderpaul who made 77 and Zaheer Mohammed who made an unbeaten 58 - his first career first class fifty.
WICKET: B Bess c Richards b Stoute 20. 270 all out. That's the end. Barbados win, take 12 points and move to 45 points overall. Depending on what happens in the match at Providence Barbados will take the top position on the points table or remain in second.
74ov [3 2 . 4 . 2b] 269/9: Mohammed 57*, Bess 20*. 11 runs from the over excites the small crowd on hand. Guyana are 60 runs away are Guyana but just the last pair in. Barbados need one wicket to seal the deal.
73ov [. . . . 4 .] 258/9: Mohammed 54*, Bess 14*. Two edges dropped just short of second and third slip. Bess is batting with the edge. Bess cuts and is dropped by substitute Shamarh Brooks at point. The game should have ended there but Brooks grasses it. Could have been a third wicket.
72ov [. . . . . .] 254/9: Mohammed 54*, Bess 10*. Maiden over by Hinds to Mohammed.
Ryan Hinds to Zaheer Mohammed.
71ov [1 . . . . .] 254/9: Mohammed 54*, Bess 10*. Bess survives five deliveries from Kevin Stoute.
70ov [4 . 3 . . 1] 253/9: Mohammed 53*, Bess 10*. Bess sends Benn for a ride, he goes high over wide mid on and get four. Bess is enjoying himself.
Benn to Bess. The two tallest men to battle.
69ov [. . . . . 4] 245/9: Mohammed 52*, Bess 3*. Mohammed cuts for four gets the fifty. His first. Well played. A top knock, one he will remember for a long, long time. He batted for the most part with Chanderpaul as well and it was a lovely supporting role. Memorable.
Can Mohammed get his maiden first class fifty? That's the dominant question of the moment. He will face up to Kevin Stoute.
68ov [. . . . . 2] 241/9: Mohammed 48*, Bess 3*.
Benn comes into the attack replacing Ryan Hinds.
67ov [. . . W 1 4] 238/9: Mohammed 48*, Bess 1*. Controlled edge by Mohammed gets him a four through slips. He's within two of a maiden fifty.
WICKET: V Permaul b Stoute 0. 233/9. Bowled! Stoute is doing it very quickly here for Barbados and showing his captain that he should have gotten the ball much sooner. Permaul was late on the shot and played on to his stumps. Middle stumps flattened.
66ov [. 4 . . . .] 233/8: Mohammed 44*, Permaul 0*. Mohammed cuts fine for four. He moves to his highest first class score and to within six of maiden half century at the first class level. He's really played a tremendous innings thus far. He and Chanderpaul put on 92 for the eight wicket which began to put serious pressure on the Barbadian.
65ov [. . W . . .] 229/8: Mohammed 40*, Permaul 0*. The over that the Barbadians have been searching for all day. Veerasammy Permaul is the new batsman. Guyanese hopes dim with the loss of Chanderpaul. He needed to stay to the end if they were to pull off a stunning come-from-behind win.
WICKET: S Chanderpaul c wkt Dowrich b Stoute 77. 229/8. That's the game. Kevin Stoute does the magic and the Bajan players cannot catch him. He's off to third man sprinting in delight! Tremendous delivery that was. It was fast, and bounced. The bounce did Chanderpaul in. He was caught in mid stroke as he looked to cut then tried to pull his bat away. It took the edge and flew to Dowrich who gathered nicely after having some trouble today. Barbados are right back on top. Kevin Stoute the partnership breaker does the magic that none of the other bowlers could do. That was a wicked delivery.
Tino Best is off and Kevin Stoute gets his first bowl of this innings. He's a bit of a partnership breaker and Ryan Hinds turns to him for exactly that.
64ov [. . . 1lb 1 .] 229/7: Chanderpaul 77*, Mohammed 40*. 100 runs needed by Guyana now. Just a single to bring the runs needed into double digits. Moral victory for Guyana. Barbados know that they just need one wicket to swing it back firmly in their favour. They are still ahead but Chanderpaul is beginning to look like he is playing a match winning innings and not just a fantastic knock.
63ov [1b . . . . 4] 227/7: Chanderpaul 76*, Mohammed 40*. Chanderpaul gets a thin edge on that. Deliberate shot fine past the keeper and it speeds away for four. Using Tino Best's pace he was.
62ov [1 . 1 1 . .] 222/7: Chanderpaul 72*, Mohammed 40*. Batsmen turning over the strike with deft singles.
Benn is off and Ryan Hinds takes the ball. One left arm spinner for another.
61ov [. . 1 . 3 .] 220/7: Chanderpaul 71*, Mohammed 38*. Guyana are chipping away at that 329 and are now 109 runs behind as drinks are taken. The momentum is now with Guyana through the level-headed efforts of Chanderpaul and sterling support from Mohammed. They have added 83 for the 8th wicket so far and the Barbadians are getting antsy for that breakthrough.
Pedro Collins is off and Tino Best comes in to try and make the breakthrough which Barbados desperately need at this stage.
60ov [. . . . . .] 216/7: Chanderpaul 69*. Mohammed 36*. Benn brings it back by delivering a maiden.
59ov [. . . . 2 4] 216/7: Chanderpaul 69*, Mohammed 36*. That's the shot of the match. Chanderpaul onto the front foot and drives with immaculate timing and placement to perfection through covers. It shuttles all along the turf to the boundary for 4. That's one of the finest batsmen in the world in full flow. The small crowd roars and you'd think it's 2000 people in here but it's under 200 in fact.
58ov [. 4 1 1 . .] 210/7: Chanderpaul 63*, Mohammed 36*. Oh what a wonderful, flowing drive by Mohammed threading it through cover for four. The shot of a batsman. Guyana are now 119 behind that 329 target. Getting closer and the Bajans nerves are building. They're getting edgy.
57ov [. . . . nb . 4] 204/7: Chanderpaul 62*, Mohammed 31*. 200 runs up with a no ball by Collins. Chanderpaul clipped on the pad and it goes through to Dowrich who does not collect cleanly but Dale Richards at first slip brilliantly snaps up the rebound and the appeal goes up. Umpire Barrasingha says not out. Finally a very good decision from him. Chanderpaul finishes the over with a fierce cut for four. 67 run partnership between these two batsmen.
56ov [1 . . . . .] 199/7: Chanderpaul 58*, Mohammed 31*. Just a single taking the score to within one of 200. 130 more needed by Guyana but only three wickets remain. These two are batting extremely well but if Barbados can get break the partnership they will be confident of a victory.
55ov [1 . . nb . . .] 198/7: Chanderpaul 58*, Mohammed 30*.
54ov [4 . . . . 1] 196/7: Chanderpaul 57*, Mohammed 30*. Chanderpaul sweeps Benn to the square leg boundary for four. Guyana rushing up to 200.
Benn continues to Chanderpaul.
53ov [4 . 1b . 4 4] 191/7: Chanderpaul 52*, Mohammed 30*. Chanderpaul cuts for four and gets to his fifty from 93 balls and it includes five fours, three of which have come after lunch. Edged! Mohammed gets a thick edge but it dropped well in front of slip and goes between Richards and Benn at first and second slip for four. The next ball he deliverately steers it wide of Benn at second slip and gets four more. Productive over for Guyana. Runs are coming along freely since lunch.
Corey Edwards is taken off at the top end and the veteran Pedro Collins comes back.
52ov [4 . 1 . . .] 178/7: Chanderpaul 48*, Mohammed 22*. Chanderpaul flicks Benn to the square leg boundary for four.
Back after lunch. Five overs have gone. We've seen Mohammed dropped by wicket keeper Shane Dowrich off Corey Edwards and an exquisite cover drive by Chanderpaul for four. He has come out after lunch looking positive and looking to score.
LUNCH: Guyana are 158 for 7 and are 171 runs away from their target of 329. They made 99 runs in the opening session and lost 4 wickets. Shivnarine Chanderpaul is not out on 36 from 81 balls with two fours and Zaheer Mohammed (15*) is with him and batting well. Join us in 40 minutes for the post-lunch session.
Bowling: Collins 9-1-31-1, C Edwards 13-2-37-2, Best 6-1-44-1, Benn 13-5--27-2, Hinds 5-0-12-0.
46ov [. 1 . . . .] 158/7: Chanderpaul 36*, Mohammed 15*. Lunch.
Hinds crowds Mohammed's bat with fielders for Benn's last over before lunch.
45ov [. . 4lb 2 4 ] 157/7: Chanderpaul 35*, Mohammed 15*. Tremendous cover drive by Mohammed for four. Super drive that!
Penultimate over before lunch to be bowled by Tino Best.
44ov [. . . . . .] 147/7: Chanderpaul 35*, Mohammed 5*. Maiden over by Benn.
43ov [1 . . 4 .] 147/7: Chanderpaul 35*. Mohammed 5*. Mohammed on drives for four. Fine shot.
42ov [4 . . . . .] 142/7: Chanderpaul 34*, Mohammed 5*. Mohammed drives a half volley through the packed cover region for four.
41ov [W . . . . 1] 138/7: Chanderpaul 34*, Mohammed 1*. Wicket for Collins.
Zaheer Mohammed is the new batsman. He can thank Christian's atrocious shot for being out there. That really was a shocking shot from a man whose place in the side is under scrutiny and who had been batting well up to that point.
WICKET: D Christian c wkt Dowrich b Collins 28. 137/7. Reckless! Irresponsible! Wide delivery from Collins and Christian chases it with a wild swish and picks up an edge and is caught behind. That was irresponsibility of the highest order. Christian should hang his head in shame. Guyana's ship is sinking.
40ov [1 . . 2 . .] 137/6: Chanderpaul 34*, Christian 28*.
39ov [2 . 2 . . .] 134/6: Chanderpaul 30*, Christian 26*. Chanderpaul is putting on a lesson for young batsmen. He's not trying to hit too hard, simply manoeuvring the ball around for singles and twos. Top lesson in the construction of an innings from one of the very best in the business.
Pedro Collins on now in place of Tino Best.
38ov [1 . . . 1 .] 130/6: Chanderpaul 28*, Christian 26*.
37ov [4 1 4 1 . 2] 128/6: Chanderpaul 27*, Christian 26*. Chanderpaul steers past slip for four then Christian turns off the hip for another boundary. He's looking good Christian. Profitable over for Guyana
36ov [2 1 . . . .] 115/6: Chanderpaul 20*, Christian 21*.
35ov [. . 1 . . 3] 113/6: Chanderpaul 17*, Christian 21*. Best beats Chanderpaul outside off stump. Ball pitched on off stump moving away and drew Chanderpaul into the shot. Beaten. Top delivery from Tino. Chanderpaul pushes the next delivery straight for three runs. Excellent work by Jason Haynes who crashes into an aluminum advertising board in saving a 4. That board is now badly bent out of shape after Haynes tumbled into it. Shocking that he is able to walk away unscathed after that collision.
34ov [. . 1 . . .] 109/6: Chanderpaul 14*, Christian 19*. Single to Christian who has been subdued after an aggressive start to his innings.
Ryan Hinds to bowl his second over of the morning having replaced Sulieman Benn
33ov [. . . . . .] 108/6: Chanderpaul 14*, Christian 18*. Best starts with a maiden probing just marginally outside Chanderpaul's off stump.
Tino Best replaces Corey Edwards at the far end.
32ov [. . . . 3 .] 108/6: Chanderpaul 14*, Christian 18*. Chanderpaul drives cautiously in front of point and collects three easy runs.
31ov [4 . . . 6 .] 105/6: Chanderpaul 11*, Christian 18*. Christian punches powerfully over cover and it races away for four then takes a half step down the track and send Corey Edwards over long off for six. He has been the first batsman to hit into the strong breeze and gotten a six. It had muscle in it. Christian moves to 18 quickly with two sixes and a four.
30ov [. . . 1 . .] 95/6: Chanderpaul 11*, Christian 8*.
29ov [. . . . . .] 94/6: Chanderpaul 11*, Christian 8*. Maiden over by Corey Edwards.
Here's a list of Umpire Barrasingha's boo boos in this game: Jason Haynes, Kevin Stoute, Gajanand Singh (twice) and Chris Barnwell. All were lbw decisions and is it turned out it probably evened out given that the decisions went against both sides.
28ov [1 . 6 . . .] 94/6: Chanderpaul 11*, Christian 8*. Christian goes high and hard over long on. Maximum. Good shot by Christian.
27ov [. . . 1 W 2] 87/6: Chanderpaul 10*, Christian 2*. Derwin Christian is the new batsman. Guyana are folding like a dry leaf in high fire with the aid of Umpire Barrasingha's poor judgment. This could be over by lunch. Four wickets remain and if the Bajans - or Umpire Barrasingha - can pry Chanderpaul out it could be over in a rush.
WICKET: C Barnwell lbw C Edwards 6. 85/6. Barnwell goes half forward in defense and is taken high on the pad. Appeal goes up and Umpire Barrasingha raises his finger. He's not refusing too many lbw appeals. He probably has a date. This is his umpteenth dubious decision in this game. He has been awfully poor and there is no avoiding it.
Corey Edwards to Chanderpaul from the Northern End. Edwards and Benn started this morning. No Tino Best or Pedro Collins as yet. Edwards has two slips, a gully, point, mid off, mid on, short mid wicket, square leg and fine leg for Chanderpaul.
26ov [. 1 . . . 2] 84/5: Chanderpaul 9*, Barnwell 6*. Single to Chanderpaul and two runs to Barnwell who tucks the ball neatly behind square.
Benn to Chanderpaul from the Media Center End bowling into a rather strong breeze which has the Golden Arrowhead and Broken Trident fluttering furiously on the flag poles in front the Albion Sports Complex Player's Pavilion.
WICKET: D Bishoo c wkt Dowrich b C Edwards 18. 77/5.
WICKET: R Crandon c&b Benn 0. 59/4.
Welcome to the Albion Sports Complex for the final day between Barabdos and Guyana. Guyana started the day on 59 for 3 and have progressed to 77 for the loss of two more wickets. Royston Crandon went to Sulieman Benn for a duck and Devendra Bishoo the nightwatchman went to Corey Edwards for 18. Guyana are 77 for 5 in the 25th over and they are staring an outright defeat in the face. Shivnarine Chanderpaul is at the crease now on 8 and Chris Barnwell has just joined him and he is yet to score.
STUMPS, DAY 3: Guyana are on 59 for 3 with Devendra Bishoo is on 8 and Royston Crandon yet to get off the mark. Guyana are 270 runs behind the victory target of 329 and the entire last day to play. Shivnarine Chanderpaul will once again be the critical man in the Guyana run chase but they have been badly set back losing the two openers for 20 and 17 respectively then Ganjanand Singh was the victim of a plain and obvious dubious decision by Umpire Barrassingha who has been having one of his least memorable performances. One wicket each to Tino Best, Pedro Collins and Sulieman Benn. Join us at 10am tomorrow for the final day's play. Have a wonderful Valentine's evening.
16ov [. . . . . .] 59/3: Bishoo 8*, R Crnadon 0*. That's the close of play.
Final over of the day coming up.
15ov [. . 4 2 . .] 59/3: Bishoo 8*, R Crandon 0*. DROPPED! Bishoo guides Collins to slip and is dropped by Benn. Low chance but should have been taken. Bishoo benefits to the tune of four runs.
14ov [1 . W . . .] 53/3: Bishoo 2*, R Crandon 0*.
WICKET: R Chandrika c Richards b Benn 17. 53/3. Chandrika comes forward and gets an edge to Richards at slip. Low catch taken very well by Richards. Guyana in trouble as Big Benn strikes late in the day. That's a crucial blow. The entire top order has been removed now.
13ov [. nb nb 1 . . . .] 52/2: Chandrika 17*, Bishoo 1*.
That's the second time in this match that Umpire Barrasingha has given Gajanand Singh out to two awfully poor lbw decisions.
12ov [. . . . . .] 49/2: Chandrika 17*, Bishoo 0*. Sulieman Benn completes his first over. It's a maiden.
11ov [. . . 3 . W] 49/2: Chandrika 17*, Bishoo 0*. Pedro Collins strikes in his first over with some help from Umpire Barrasingha. The nightwatchman comes out. It's Devendra Bishoo.
WICKET: G Singh lbw Collins 6. 49/2. Gajanand Singh goes forward and is playing a shot, hit outside the line of off stump. He should have gotten the benefit of the doubt there but Umpire Barrasingha sends him on his way. Singh walks off slowly probably in the knowledge that he is the victim of a poor decision by the umpire. Collins gets a wicket to his name finally in the game.
Pedro Collins comes back, replacing Tino Best at the Northern End.
10ov [. 4 . . . .] 46/1: Chandrika 14*, Singh 6*.
9ov [. 1 . . 4nb . .] 42/1: Chandrika 14*, Singh 2*.
8ov [. . . 1 . .] 36/1: Chandrika 14*, Singh 1*. Corey Edwards maintaining a good off stump line.
7ov [3 4 4 4 nb . W] 35/1: Chandrika 14*, Singh 0*. Flowing on drive by Chandrika to greet Best. Chattergoon pushes through covers for four then clips off his legs for another 4. Best stands hands akimbo mid-pitch. And now a cover drive! Boom! Take that Tino Best. Chattergoon is taking him apart here. Shot all around the ground. Three exquisite shots by the Guyanese skipper, bettering each effort with the following shot. best gets his man after five frustrating deliveries. He now has seven wickets in the match and is a strong contender for Man-of-the-Match. He has made an immediate impact.
WICKET: S Chattergoon c Brathwaite b Best 20. 35/1. Chattergoon took Best apart with three boundaries but then he tried an aerial flick off the final delivery and it went in the air to Kraigg Brathwaite running around from square leg. Best strikes in his first over after Chattergoon hit him for three fluent boundaries. He has the final laugh.
Commentator's curse for the Guyanese batsmen. Pedro Collins is off and Tino Best comes into the attack at the Northern End.
6ov [. . . . . .] 19/0: Chattergoon 8*, Chandrika 7*. The batsmen are batting confidently, seem to be enjoying the fact that Best is not steaming in with the new ball.
5ov [. . . 3 . .] 19/0: Chattergoon 8*, Chandrika 7*. Chattergoon turned into the on side for three.
4ov [. . . 1 1 .] 16/0: Chattergoon 5*, Chandrika 7*. The Guyanese batsmen are playing positively, not getting the runs to show for it quite yet but they are not playing with any negativity or simply looking to play safely until close of play. Positively with being risky. A good approach.
3ov [. 2 . nb 2 nb . .] 14/0: Chattergoon 4*, Chandrika 6*.
2ov [4 . . . 2 .] 8/0: Chattergoon 0*, Chandrika 6*. Chandrika greets Edwards with a spanking cover drive. 4 runs.
Big surprise from Barbados. Tino Best is not given the new ball. Another shocker from the Bajans. Corey Edwards, playing in his second match shares the new ball with Collins. Best is the man who ripped Guyana apart in the first innings with six wickets. Guyana have to negotiate a minimum of 16 overs for the remainder of the day.
1ov [. 2lb . . . .] 2/0: Chattergoon 0*, Chandrika 0*. Just two leg byes from the first over. Chattergoon plays defensively to Collins.
Guyana are ready to commence this monumental run chase. Captain Sewnarine Chattergoon and newcomer Rajendra Chandrika are out and Pedro Collins is at the top of his mark and ready to run in with that ease approach he has.
Barbados have declared at 153 for 9. They have a lead for 328. Guyana now have to get 329 to pull off a come-from-behind victory. It is a task which will require application. The pitch holds no terrors but it is keeping somewhat low and run scoring is not as easy as it was on days one and two. Guyana will have to overcome Tino Best's pace, Pedro Collins' swing and seam movement and the spin of left armers Sulieman Benn and Ryan Hinds. Corey Edwards and Kevin Stoute will also give support to the more established bowlers.
62ov [W . 3 W] 154/9: Collins 3*. Bishoo takes two wickets in the over and gets another 5-fer. He has 5 for 45 and now has completed his first 10 wicket match haul for Guyana. 10 for 120 he has. Brilliant performance from the local boy.
WICKET: T Best c&b Bishoo 18. 154/9. Best tries to go for a maximum and skies it high. Bishoo waves off everyone else and settles and waits for an eternity then takes a comfortable catch.
WICKET: S Benn b Bishoo 13. 151/8. Benn comes down the track and swipes. Misses by a mile and is bowled middle stump. He hangs his head in shame knowing it was a poor effort and steams off. Pedro Collins joins his fast bowling partner Tino Best who is batting well. He's hitting boundaries and playing defensively when the deliveries merit it.
61ov [. 1 . . 4 .] 151/7: Benn 13*, Best 18*. Best rushes down the track and smacks it over wide mid on for 4. 150 up for Barbados but they would have thought it would have been up sooner and for less wickets.
60ov [. . . 2 . .] 146/7: Benn 12*, Best 14*. Best drives into the off side for 2.
59ov [. . . . . .] 144/7: Benn 12*, Best 12*. Mohammed is keeping Benn penned. Benn looking to turn the ball into the on side and sweep but not making contact. Undone by spin and is taken on the pad. A couple of lbw appeals go up but none successful.
58ov [1 . 4 2 . .] 144/7: Benn 12*, Best 12*. That was a cover swat by Best. He came down the track reached wide for it and swatted it between extra cover and mid off for four.
57ov [. . 4 1 . .] 137/7: Benn 11*, Best 6*. Benn sweeps fine for 4. It was in the air but never in danger as it was swept very fine.
56ov [. 1 2 4 . .] 132/7: Benn 6*, Best 6*. Best edges past the keeper and it goes away for four. Barbados' lead is now over 300. It's 305 with three wickets left.
55ov [. . . . . .] 124/7: Benn 5*, Best 0*. Maiden.
Back after tea. Zaheer Mohammed replaces Chattergoon.
TEA: Barbados are 124 for 7 with an overall lead of 298. Three wickets remain. Sulieman Benn (5*) and Tino Best (0*) are at the wicket. The sporting non-enforcement of the follow-on has reinvigorated this match with Guyana getting a lifeline. Barbados are still in overall command as they have a substantial lead but Guyana have been energised by those seven wickets today. Re-join us in 20 minutes for the final session of day three.
54ov [. . . . 2 .] 124/7: Benn 5*, Best 0*. Benn sweeps and misses the first four deliveries and then connects on the fifth delivery. He gets 2.
53ov [. . . 1 . .] 122/7: Benn 3*, Best 0*.
Chattergoon into his 23rd consecutive over.
52ov [. . . . W .] 121/7: Benn 2*, Best 0*. Bishoo takes his eight wicket of the match.
WICKET: S Dowrich c wkt Christian b Bishoo 1. Dowrich cuts and gets an edge. Christian snaps it up and throws the ball in the air. The seventh Bajan wicket goes and the small crowd is enjoying it. Tino Best comes out to join Sulieman Benn. Both can bat but the Guyanese are energized that they have removed all the top order batsmen and are into the tail.
51ov [. 1 . . 2 .] 121/6: Dowrich 1*, Benn 2*. Bardados are panicking a little but they do have a substantial lead, one which Guyana will have to bat out their skins to overtake and claim an outright win.
The overall lead is now 292. Barbados has a first innings lead of 174.
50ov [. . . W . .] 118/6: Dowrich 0*, Benn 0*. Bishoo takes his seventh wicket of the match and the second of this innings. He has two wickets in two overs in this spell. Sulieman Benn is the new man at the crease and it would be interesting to see a mid pitch conference between Benn and Dowrich.
WICKET: K Stoute c Chattergoon b Bishoo 5. 118/6. Flighted delivery by Bishoo Stoute drives, gets an edge and is taken at slip. Barbados are now on the backfoot and Guyana has the initiative and is getting right back into this game after being gifted the non-enforcement of the follow-on by Barbados. It was a show of Bajan love towards the Guyanese on this Valentine's Day.
49ov [. . 2 . . .] 118/5: Stoute 5*, Dowrich 0*.
48ov [. 2 . . . W] 116/5: Stoute 3*, Dowrich 0*. Debutant wicketkeeper Shane Dowrich hustles to the crease. He looks as though he means business.
WICKET: K Edwards c Chanderpaul b Bishoo 33. 116/5. Edwards comes down the track to Bishoo and looks to go over the bowler's head but spoons it to Chanderpaul at extra cover. Another Bajan wicket goes just as a partnership was beginning to build. Bishoo gets a wicket in his first over back.
Permaul is off and Bishoo returns.
47ov [. . . . . .] 114/4: K Edwards 31*, Stoute 3*. Chattergoon's 20th over is a maiden.
46ov [. 1 . 4 2 .] 114/4: K Edwards 31*, Stoute 3*. A beautiful flowing on drive by Kirk Edwards placed precisely between short mid wicket and deep mid on. Royston Crandon gives up the run chase. FOUR.
45ov [. . . 1 . .] 107/4: K Edwards 25*, Stoute 2*. Chattergoon completes his 19th over. He has bowled unchanged at the Northern End either side of lunch.
44ov [. . . 2 . 4] 106/4: K Edwards 25*, Stoute 1*. Edwards goes hard straight and it blazes past Mohammed running around from long off. 4.
100 up in the 43rd over.
43ov [1 . 1 . . .] 100/4: K Edwards 19*, Stoute 1*. End of another Chattergoon over.
42ov [. . . . . . .] 98/4: K Edwards 18*, Stoute 0*. Maiden over by Permaul forcing Edwards to play but unable to get a run.
41ov [. . . . . 1] 98/4: K Edwards 18*, Stoute 0*.
40ov [. . . W . .] 97/4: K Edwards 17*, Stoute 0*. Permaul gets his first wicket of the match on his home ground.
WICKET: K Brathwaite c Sub (V Singh) b Permaul 34. 97/4. Brathwaite tries to up the scoring but skies to the mid wicket region where Vishaul Singh, the substitute, takes his third catch of the match. It was a fine, tumbling effort.
Chattergoon is a surprise package for Guyana. 16-5-25-2
39ov [. . . 1 . .] 97/3: Brathwaite 34*, K Edwards 17*. Brathwaite is looking to push on but playing somewhat agriculturally.
Having lost three wickets Barbados are now consolidating and engaged in further loss prevention efforts. The momentum swung to Guyana and Barbados are now trying to wrestle the initiative back in their favour. Chattergoon continues.
38ov [. . 4 . nb . .] 96/3: Brathwaite 33*, K Edwards 17*. Edwards turns off the pads for four. Capitalizing on no fielder being in the fine leg region and Permaul straying onto the pads. Drinks.
37ov [. 2 . . . .] 91/3: Brathwaite 33*, K Edwards 13*.
36ov [1 4 . 1 . .] 89/3: Brathwaite 31*, K Edwards 13*. Brathwaite, very wristily, turns off the pad for 4.
Veerasammy Permaul replaces Bishoo.
34ov [. . . 4 . .] 83/3: Brathwaite 26*, K Edwards 12*. Brathwaite whips off the legs and it beats the man running around from the mid wicket boundary for four.
33ov [1 4 . 1 2 .] 79/3: Brathwaite 22*, K Edwards 12*. Brathwaite pulls a short delivery for 4.
32ov [1 . . . . 1] 71/3: Brathwaite 17*, K Edwards 9*.
31ov [. . . 4 . .] 69/3: Brathwaite 16*, K Edwards 8*. Edwards lofts Bishoo wide of mid on. Runs away for four.
30ov [. . 1 . . 2] 65/3: Brathwaite 16*, K Edwards 4*.
29ov [. 1 . . . .] 62/3: Brathwaite 14*, K Edwards 3*.
28ov [. . . . 1 .] 61/3: Brathwaite 14*, K Edwards 2*. Excellent stop by Bess saves three runs, reduces what should have been 4 to just a single.
27ov [. 3 1 . . .] 60/3: Brathwaite 14*, K Edwards 1*. Bad miss between Permaul and Mohammed as Brathwaite skies the ball to extra cover and the two fielders run towards the ball but there was no clear communication and both of them pulled out and let the ball fall to ground. Brathwaite should have been out there but he survives due to a bad fielding error.
26ov [. . . . . .] 56/3: Brathwaite 11*, K Edwards 0*. Third maiden in a row.
25ov [. . . . . .] 56/3: Brathwaite 11*, Edwards 0*. Two maidens in a row. Bishoo follows a wicket-maiden by Chattergoon with a maiden of his own.
24ov [. W . . . .] 56/3: Brathwaite 11*, Edwards 0*. The lead is 230 with seven wickets left.
Kirk Edwards is the new batsman. Barbados' decision to not enforce the follow-on is not looking all that brilliant at the moment. But to be honest it never looked all that smart a move. They are now batting to consolidate.
WICKET: R Hinds c Chandrika b Chattergoon 2. 56/3. Chattergoon gets another wicket. The captain takes the captain. Hinds tries to go over long on for a six and hits into that wind - a mistake made by several batsmen in this match - and is caught by long on running in.
23ov [. . 1 . . .] 56/2: Brathwaite 11*, Hinds 2*. Hinds turns through the vacant square leg region for a single. The man on the boundary runs in and fields.
22ov [1 . . . . .] 55/2: Brathwaite 11*, Hinds 1*. Hinds off the mark.
21ov [. . . . . .] 54/2: Brathwaite 11*, Hinds 0*. Maiden by Bishoo. Brathwaite plays all six deliveries confidently back up the pitch.
20ov [. 4 . W . .] 54/2: Brathwaite 11*, Hinds 0*. Chattergoon takes the second wicket to peg Barbados back. Kraigg Brathwaite is still at the wicket. He is joined by his captain Ryan Hinds.
WICKET: J Haynes b Chattergoon 21. 54/2: Haynes plays back and looks to punch the ball into the off side. He misses the shot and the ball clips the pad and hits the off stump. A series of unfortunate events and Chattergoon gets the wicket.
19ov [. 1 . 2 . .] 50/1: Brathwaite 11*, Haynes 17*. Fifty up with a turn behind square by Brathwaite.
Devendra Bishoo, the leggie who took five wickets in the first innings, takes up the attack at the Media Center End.
18ov [1 . . 1 . .] 47/1: Brathwaite 9*, Haynes 14*. A single to each batsman after lunch. Immediately one can sense that they have had instructions to get on with it.
Back after lunch and Chattergoon will continue. Brathwaite is facing.
LUNCH: Barbados batting a second time are 45 for 1 with Jason Haynes on 13 and Kraigg Brathwaite on 8. The lone wicket to fall was Dale Richards (20) and he went to Chris Barnwell.
18ov [. . 4 . 2 .] 45/1: Brathwaite 8*, Haynes 13*. Haynes drives straight past the bowler for four. The Bajan batsmen are all looking, as a first option, to play in the V.
Last over before lunch coming up. Barnwell will bowl his 9th over on the trot.
17ov [. . . . . .] 39/1: Brathwaite 8*, Haynes 9*. Chattergoon rushes through another maiden.
16ov [1 . . . 4 .] 39/1: Brathwaite 8*. Haynes 9*. Two loud lbw shouts by Barnwell v Haynes. Both turned down. Barnwell angling into the left hander going around the wicket. Haynes gets it right and whips off the pads for four. Cute shot that on Valentine's Day.
15ov [. . . . 4 .] 34/1: Brathwaite 7*, Haynes 5*. Haynes drives past mid off who had to duck to avoid being hit in the face after getting a vicious bounce as a result of a rough outfield.
14ov [. . . . . .] 30/1: Brathwaite 7*, Haynes 1*. THird maiden of the innings.
13ov [. . . . . .] 30/1: Brathwaite 7*, Haynes 1*. Maiden over by Chattergoon.
12ov [. W 1 . . .] 30/1: Brathwaite 7*, Haynes 1*. Barnwell makes the breakthrough but it was a short and wide delivery.
WICKET: D Richards c Sub (V Singh) b Barnwell 20. 29/1. Richards cuts hard and Vishaul Singh takes a stunner at backward point. That was hit tremendously hard but Singh got low down and took a sizzling catch. Richards had become significantly subdued. He seemed not to know how to approach the innings and makes a brisk exit as if he is happy to get back to the pavilion. Jason Haynes is the new batsmen.
11ov [. . . . . .] 29/0: Richards 20*, Brathwaite 7*. Maiden by Chattergoon. Brisk over.
10ov [. . . . . .] 29/0: Richards 20*, Brathwaite 7*. Maiden over by Barnwell.
9ov [. . . 1 . .] 29/0: Richards 20*, Brathwaite 7*.
Bess is off and Chattergoon takes the ball himself to bowl leg spin.
8ov [1 . . . . .] 28/0: Richards 19*, Brathwaite 7*. The entire buzz from the first hour when Barbados were going at Guyana has now gone. It's very flat out there.
7ov [. . 1 . . .] 27/0: Richards 18*, Brathwaite 7*. Lengthy delay as Bess has a problem with his left leg. He collapses to the ground while walking back to his mark after the first delivery. 12th man runs out to offer help but the Guyanese team seems to not have a physio of their own so the players are the ones who have to offer medical assistance.
6ov [. . . . . 2] 26/0: Richards 17*, Brathwaite 7*. Brathwaite drives through covers for two. There is no buzz on the field. The Guyanese are doing damage control and are bowling wide of off stump. They are trying to slow things done. The Bajan non-enforcement of the follow on can only be explained by the Bajan camp.
Heated discussions in the Media Center. Questions flying everywhere as to why the likes of Barnwell is batting in the Guyanese middle order while Leon Johnson, who played for the Windies a year ago cannot make the Guyana squad. Good question. The Guyanese middle order, missing captain Ramnaresh Sarwan (injured), Narsingh Deonarine and Travis Dowlin (on Windies duties) is rather fragile barring Chanderpaul.
5ov [1 . 1b 1 4 .] 24/0: Richards 17*, Brathwaite 5*.
4ov [. . . . 1 1] 17/0: Richards 13*, Brathwaite 3*. Barnwell bowling mostly very wide of off stump. One the too occasions he pitched closer he was taken for singles. The baffling and inexplicable decision by Barbados to not enforce the follow on is still sinking in here in the Media Center. Everyone is scratching their heads over it.
3ov [. 4 . 1 . .] 15/0: Richards 12*, Brathwaite 2*. Another stupendous straight drive. That was so close to the stumps at the non-striker's end it must have brushed the stumps. All timing by Richards, he's making it look too easy.
2ov [. . 1lb 1 1 1] 10/0: Richards 7*, Brathwaite 2*. Both batmsne picking off singles against Barnwell who is bowling nothing more than medium pace which is child's play for both Richards and Brathwaite.
Chris Barnwell takes the new ball.
1ov [. 4 1 . . 1] 6/0: Richards 5*, Brathwaite 1*. Richards pushes back past the bowler and it speeds away for 4. Beats the fielder into the boundary board. Both batsmen off the mark. In contrasting fashion. Richards with a four, Brathwaite turns into the on side for a single.
Dale Richards and Kraigg Brathwaite walk out. Brandon Bess shines the new ball on his trousers before running in at Richards.
We've had a stunning decision by the Barbados camp. They will not enforce the follow on. It is a decision which has shocked everyone. Barbados will bat again with a first innings lead of 174 and a Guyanese team which is low on confidence. Amazing decision by Ryan Hinds and his advisors.
75ov [. 4 W] 229 all out: Bess 1*.
WICKET: V Permaul c Best b Benn 32. 229 all out. Permaul tries to go for another boundary but this time he is hitting into the wind, not with it. It goes high and Tino Best runs in a little and takes the catch. Permaul is the last man to go and Guyana fall 25 runs short of the follow-on total of 254. We'll wait to hear if they are asked to bat again but one would think there is no choice for Barbados. Their bowlers are still fresh and the Guyanese are in a very vulnerable position. Tino Best has taken six wickets and he's bowling quickly and venomously. Guyana surrender a first innings lead of 174 so even erasing that the second time around would be a major task.
Tino Best is taken off. Sulieman Benn comes in.
74ov [4 . . 4 1 .] 225/9: Permaul 32*, Bess 1*. Permaul is latching on to that cover boundary. He goes over cover and another four. That was the best of the three such shots. And he does it yet again! Permaul is scoring quickly and Guyana beginning to hope that they could avoid the follow on. Just 29 more needed. Permaul is really playing intelligently and is showing that he's certainly no mug with the bat. He looks a top order batsman.
73ov [4 . . . . 1] 216/9: Permaul 23*, Bess 1*. Permaul punches that over cover one again and gets another 4. He's going down fighting. Permaul is a feisty cricketer whether batting or bowling. Good one to watch.
72ov [. 4 1 1 . 1] 211/9: Permaul 18*, Bess 1*. Permaul goes over mid off for 4. Bess gets off strike first ball compliments of Captain Hinds who employs a long on and long off to the new batsman. Strange.
71ov [. . . nb . . W] 204/9: Permaul 12*, Bess 0*.
WICKET: D Bishoo c wkt Dowrich b Best 4. 203/9. Bishoo goes fishing outside the off stump and gets and edge. A fine low take by Dowrich and Tino Best gets a six-fer! He's ripping the Guyanese batting apart. Last man Brandon Bess in now. It's just about over for Guyana.
70ov [. 1 . . 4 .] 203/8: Permaul 12*, Bishoo 4*. Permaul goes over cover and cashes in on a boundary. 200 up in 69.5 overs. 51 more runs to avoid the follow on. The batsmen look as though they will be employing an aggressive approach to get the runs needed. It's the way to go, no point in hanging about now.
69ov [. . . . W nb 3] 198/8: Permaul 8*, Bishoo 3*. Tino Best takes a five wicket haul for two matches in a row. With injuries to multiple Windies quicks he must be expectant. He's bowling well, with pace, and variations but not wild and emotional. Good stuff.
Devendra Bishoo is the new batsman
WICKET: S Chanderpaul lbw Best 23. 194/8. That's the BIG FISH! Tino Best lands a monster in his first over in the morning. That's the key man for Guyana he's snapped up with a delivery which was pitched fuller and Chanderpaul looked to turn it into the on side but it kept low, took him on the pad and Umpire Norman Malcom raises that dreaded finger which the Guyanese dressing room does not want to see. You've got to think that Guyana will now not be able to get the 65 runs to get the follow on.
Tino Best picks up the attack at the Northern End. He's running away from a clutter of coconut trees beyond the boundary. Shivnarine Chanderpaul - the key for Guyana - to face.
68ov [. . . . . nb 4lb] 194/7: Chanderpaul 23*, Permaul 8*. First runs this morning are all extras.
Ryan Hinds will start off at the Media Center End bowling to Permaul.
Shiv Chanderpaul is at the crease on 23 and he has Veerasammy Permaul with him on 8. The batsmen to come are Devendra Bishoo and Brandon Bess. They will have a tough task of getting the addition 65 run to avoid being asked to follow on. Tino Best has ripped through Guyana's batting with four wickets and he had the sterling support of his captain Ryan Hinds who took three wickets.
A wonderful Sunday morning to you and welcome to the Albion Sports Complex Ground in the Ancient County of Berbice in Guyana. As commentator Sean Devers will tell you without fail, it's the second largest of the three counties, the largest being Essequibo - the Cinderella County - and Demerara, the smallest. The conditions here are very breezy as they have been all match but today there are a few gray clouds wafting by but whatever rains they may be carrying won't affect us. Guyana are up against it at 189 for 7, fighting to get up to the follow on total of 264. Barabdos are in total control and will use today press on to get full points. They need full points in this match to stay in contention for the title. The points leaders are Jamaica and have taken first innings points against CCC in the historic day/night match at the Providence Stadium.
STUMPS, DAY 2: Guyana are in a precarious position at 189 for 7, 214 runs behind Barbados' 403 and 64 runs short of making the visitors bat again. Chanderpaul is not out on 23 and Permaul is with him on 8. Tino Best has broken the Guyanese batting with 4 for 55 and Ryan Hinds supported with 3 for 31. We trust that you have enjoyed the updates and commentary. Join us at 10am tomorrow morning as Guyana battle to stay alive in this match which the Bajans now have complete control of.
67ov [. . 2 . . 1] 189/7: Chanderpaul 23*, Permaul 8*. That's brings the day's play to an end. A bit of drama on the last ball. Permaul plays wide of gully and takes off for a single but there was some indecision on the part of Chanderpaul but he eventually came through for the single and all's well that ends well.
Best to bowl the final over of the day's play.
66ov [1 . . 4 . nb 1] 182/7: Chanderpaul 22*, Permaul 5*. Permaul off the mark with a swing to the boundary for 4. Poor delivery by Hinds given the treatment by Permaul.
Penultimate over of the day coming up.
65ov [W . . . . 4nb .] 175/7: Chanderpaul 22*, Permaul 0*. Best battling away and he's fighting hard for that fifth wicket. Anxious for that five-fer this afternoon.
WICKET: Z Mohammed b Best 1. 170/7. YORKED! That's all that's to be said. Best fires it in and it hits the base of middle stump. Goodbye Mr. Mohammed, thank you for coming. Guyana is falling to bits as they chase Barabdos' 403. Four wickets for Best now. Good chance of getting for five-fer.
64ov [. 1 . . 1 .] 170/6: Chanderpaul 22*, Mohammed 1*.
63ov [1lb 3 . . . .] 172/6: Chanderpaul 21*, Mohammed 0*. Chanderpaul steers through third man for 3. Well fielded by Kirk Edwards who pulls it in inches inside the boundary, skips over the boundary board and returns onto the field to whip in the return. Good work by Kirk Edwards.
Hinds just bowls one over at the top end then brings on Tino Best.
62ov [. . . . . .] 168/6: Chanderpaul 18*, Mohammed 0*.
61ov [. . . . . .] 168/6: Chanderpaul 18*, Mohammed 0*. Maiden over by Hinds 15-7-50-3. Tino Best figures are 9-1-44-3. The pair has all six wickets.
Ryan Hinds switches to the Northern End where he replaces Pedro Collins.
60ov [. . . . 2 .] 168/6: Chanderpaul 18*, Mohammed 0*. Chanderpaul whips into the fine leg region. Kraigg Brathwaite from square leg chases and Chanderpaul gets 2.
Benn comes back into the attack.
59ov [. . . . 1 .] 166/6: Chanderpaul 16*, Mohammed 0*. (Score adjustment once again after consultation with the official scorers)
58ov [. . 1 . . .] 162/6: Chanderpaul 15*, Mohammed 0*.
57ov [4 . 1 . . .] 161/6: Chanderpaul 14*, Mohammed 0*. Chanderpaul surprises Collins with a drive past cover and picks up four, his second boundary of the innings. All timing and placement.
56ov [W . . . . .] 156/6: Chanderpaul 9*, Mohammed 0*. Hinds makes the breakthrough.
WICKET: D Christian lbw Hinds 17. 156/6. Christian plays half forward and is taken on the pad. Hinds goes up and so too all his teammates. It's not a complicated decision for Umpire Barrasingha. Hinds outfoxes Christian who was playing for turn but it was straighter and faster and flatter.
55ov [4 1 . 2 . .] 156/5: Chanderpaul 9*, Christian 17*. Christian drives over Kevin Stoute at short extra cover and collects 4. Risky shot but Christian will tell you he picked his spot and went for it. Chanderpaul drives but there wasn't his usual timing on that. Only 2.
54ov [. . . 1 . .] 150/5: Chanderpaul 7*, Christian 11*. 150 up with a single behind point by Christian.
Benn is off the field so Ryan Hinds takes over at the Media Center End.
53ov [. . . . . .] 149/5: Chanderpaul 7*, Christian 10*. Chanderpaul is killing the spirits of the Bajan. Chanderpaul plays defensively to one delivery and leaves the other five for Dowrich to do what he's being paid to do.
52ov [. . . . . .] 149/5: Chanderpaul 7*, Christian 10*. Maiden by Benn.
51ov [. . . . . .] 149/5: Chanderpaul 7*, Christian 10*. Chanderpaul is Chanderpaul. Goes forward, watches Collins closely and simply blocks that over. He's playing with all the timing in the world. The Windies surely will not be happy that he is in Albion and not Australia. The fourth ODI is tonight. But he is only now coming back from that finger injury. They may even want Benn there as well but he has a two match ODI ban to serve and is also playing his first game after injury.
50ov [. . . . . 1] 149/5: Chanderpaul 7*, Christian 10*. Chanderpaul takes a single off the last ball and keeps the strike.
49ov [. . . . 4 .] 148/5: Chanderpaul 6*, Christian 10*. Christian edges past Sulieman Benn at second slip for four. Drinks break taken as Guyana inches up to the 150 mark.
Chanderpaul changes his bat between overs but Christian will face up to Collins.
48ov [1 . . . . .] 144/5: Chanderpaul 6*, Christian 6*. Single to Christian off the first ball then Chanderpaul spends the other five blocking and padding out to Benn.
47ov [. . nb . . . .] 143/5: Chanderpaul 6*, Christian 5*. Collins targets Chanderpaul's off stump but his bat is as broad as the sightscreen. Plays quietly and easily in that trademark Chanderpaul manner. No worries for the top Windies middle order batsman.
Best is off and Pedro Collins takes the ball and will bowl to Chanderpaul.
46ov [. . . . . .] 142/5: Chanderpaul 6*, Christian 5*. Second maiden for Benn, this time to Christian.
45ov [4 . . . . 1] 142/5: Chanderpaul 6*, Christian 5*. CHANCE! Christian edges low to debutant wicketkeeper Shane Dowrich's right. He dives but is late and doesn't get any glove to it but he should have gloved that. The ball screams away to the boundary for 4.
44ov [. . . . . .] 137/5: Chanderpaul 6*, Christian 0*. Benn starts with a maiden to Chanderpaul who plays him cautiously but without much trouble.
Ryan Hinds thinks it's time he quits bowling and tosses the ball to Sulieman Benn. If Benn can deliver Chanderpaul he'd be a hero for the Barbadians.
43ov [. W . . . .] 137/5: Chanderpaul 6*, Christian 0*. Wicket maiden for Best. He's given Barbados the advantage with those three wickets.
WICKET: C Barnwell b Best 14. 137/5. Best gets one to jag back at Barnwell and it kept low as well. The off stump is pegged back and Guyana are now in clear and indisputable trouble. They do have Chanderpaul in who is joined by Derwin Christian, the wicketkeeper. Three wickets to Best.
42ov [. . 1 1 . 4] 133/4: Barnwell 14*, Chanderpaul 6*. Chanderpaul lofts Hinds over deep mid on.
41ov [. . . 4 . 4] 132/4: Barnwell 14*, Chanderpaul 1*. Best is short to Barnwell and he's a tall young man. He uses his height and gets on top of the ball and pulls for 4. A misfield at mid off by Jason Haynes gifts Barnwell another 4.
40ov [. . . . nb . .] 124/4: Barnwell 6*, Chanderpaul 1*.
39ov [W . 1 2 4 .] 123/4: Barnwell 6*, Chanderpaul 1*. Chanderpaul off the mark with a tuck to fine leg for one. Barnwell pulls for four. Not convincing but gets the result.
WICKET: R Crandon b Best 6. 116/4. Bowled him! Beaten for pace! All ends up! Best scatters the stumps of Crandon as he is late on the shot. This is what the small crowd came to see. Shivnarine Chanderpaul.
38ov [W . . . . .] 116/3: Crandon 2*, Barnwell 0*. Hinds makes a breakthrough, getting the top scorer Gajanand Singh but we've looked at the tv replays are clear that the ball pitched well outside leg stump. Those TV replays being provided by the analyst for the Guyanese team - Robin Singh.
WICKET: G Singh lbw Hinds 66. 116/3. Singh goes onto the backfoot and pulls. He misses the shot and is taken on the pad just around the knee roll. Umpire Barrasingha raises the finger after a vociferous appeal. Christopher Barnwell is the new batsman. No Chanderpaul as yet.
37ov [. . 4 . . .] 116/2: Singh 66*, Crandon 2*. Royston Crandon cuts away for a boundary. First boundary after tea.
Back after tea with Tino Best steaming in at the top end.
TEA: Guyana lost one wicket (Rajendra Chandrika for 32) in the session and made 99 runs. Gajanand Singh has settled down after an aggressive start. He's on 66 and with him is Royston Crandon on 2. Guyana have their trump in batting maestro Shivnarine Chanderpaul in the shed. They will be confident for the final session. Guyana are 291 behind with eight wickets in hand.
36ov [. . . . . .] 112/2: Singh 66*, R Crandon 2*. Maiden over takes us to the tea interval.
Hinds continues. This is the sort of pitch on which the slow bowlers will earn their pay as they will be called on to bowl marathon spells. This pitch, though playing with a hint of low bounce on the odd occasion, is one batsmen will enjoy every day of the week and twice on Sundays.
35ov [nb . 2 . . 1 .] 112/2: Singh 66*, R Crandon 2*.
Stoute is removed from the attack and Tino Best comes back at the Northern End.
34ov [. . . . . 1] 106/2: Singh 63*, R Crandon 1*.
33ov [. 1 1 . . .] 106/2: Singh 62*, R Crandon 1*.
32ov [. W . . . .] 104/2: Singh 61*, R Crandon 0*. Royston Crandon comes ahead of Shiv Chanderpaul. Crandon turns his second ball into the leg of Jason Haynes at bat pad. It then lobs up but neither the bowler or the other fielder under the bat is able to get to it before it drops to ground. Wicket maiden
WICKET: R Chandrika c Richards b Hinds 32. 104/2. Chandrika goes in the fashion he should have gone a few overs back. He goes for an expansive drive and it was too wide and took a thick edge and balloooned to Richards at slip. There is no doubt about the legitimacy of that catch and Richards mocks Chandrika as he leaves. No need for that but he was not happy about being accused of claiming a catch before when he was in no doubt that he had taken it cleanly.
29ov [. . . . . .] 97/1: Chandrika 32*, Singh 54*. Maiden over by Stoute.
28ov [. . . 4 . .] 97/1: Chandrika 32*, Singh 54*. Singh gives himself room and cuts away for 4. Guyana confidently striding up to the 100 mark.
27ov [1 . . . . .] 93/1: Chandrika 32*, Singh 50*. Singh gets to his maiden first class 50 with a single to cover. He gets a warm round of applause. He's a Berbice boy, born and raised but has switched allegiance to Demerara these days but the Berbice crowd appreciates his batting.
26ov [. 4 . . . .] 92/1: Chandrika 32*, Singh 49*. A fantastic straight drive for four by Chandrika. Two balls later he edges to slip and it looks to be a superb catch by Dale Richards but Umpire Barrasingha consults with square leg Umpire Norman Malcolm and rules not out. That looks very tough on the Bajans. Television replays here in the media center show that it was a brilliant catch by Richards. The Bajans are not happy and they have all right not to be.
25ov [. . . 2 . .] 88/1: Chandrika 28*, Singh 49*. Singh has raced to within one of a half century from 68 balls with nine fours. He's dealing mostly in boundaries.
Kevin Stoute replaces Corey Edwards.
24ov [. . . . . .] 86/1: Chandrika 28*, Singh 47*. Second maiden by Hinds. Chandrika twice cut looking for a single but finds the fielder at backward point.
23ov [. . . 4 . .] 86/1: Chandrika 28*, Singh 47*. 8/1 field is persisted with by Captain Hinds. Singh drives sweetly past mid off for 4. The other five balls he lets go outside off stump.
22ov [. . . . . .] 82/1: Chandrika 28*, Singh 43*. Hinds starts with a maiden as Chandrika plays every delivery on the front foot back up the pitch.
Benn is taken off and captain Ryan Hinds comes on to bowl left arm spin.
21ov [. . . . 4 .] 82/1: Chandrika 28*, Singh 43*. There was an 8/1 field at the start of the over which was converted to a 9/0 field with all the fielders on the off side for Corey Edwards to Singh. Singh then took a delivery from outside off and punched it through mid wicket and ran four.
20ov [. . . . . .] 78/1: Chandrika 28*, Singh 39*. Maiden over. Runs are being scored but the batsmen seem to have forgotten that singles have not - well at least not yet - been banned by the ICC. A single has not been scored off the bat for six over. The batsmen are simply looking to score in boundaries and when not on offer they simply blow and have no inclination to turn over the strike. Not very intelligent batting in the circumstances.
19ov [4 . . . . 2] 78/1: Chandrika 28*, Singh 39*. Go fetch! Wide outside off stump and Singh cuts hard between point and backward point. Bisected the two men with immaculate precision, if you'll pardon the redundancy.
18ov [. . . . 2 .] 72/1: Chandrika 28*, Singh 33*. Chandrika goes over extra cover for two. He was not in control of that shot but well over the head of the fielder.
Sulieman Benn continues. Good to see Dale Richards fielding at first slip talking to and encouraging debutant wicketkeeper Shane Dowrich. Excellent from the veteran player to the youngster.
17ov [. . . 1b . .] 70/1: Chandrika 26*, Singh 33*. Chandrika is playing watchfully and punishing ill pitched deliveries but Singh is being somewhat ultra-aggressive and merely playing shots rather than playing resolutely.
16ov [4 . . . . .] 69/1: Chandrika 26*, Singh 33*. Singh goes over mid on and the ball beats Tino Best into the boundary. Best is unable to slide to make the save due to the rough outfield and the boundary being marked by boards rather than rope.
15ov [4 2 . . 2 4]65/1: Chandrika 26*, Singh 29*. Chandrika cuts for four twice off Edwards. Rousing shots.
14ov [. . 1 . . .] 53/1: Chandrika 14*, Singh 29*. Quiet over by Benn.
13ov [1 . . . . .] 52/1: Chandrika 13*, Singh 29*. DROPPED! Singh edged to Benn at second slip. Benn gets his big hand under that and scoops it up but it unable to hang on. He bobbles it twice but then it drops to ground. A life for Singh. It was a good effort by Benn to get down and get his hand under it but could not clean it up in the end.
12ov [. 1 1 . . .] 51/1: Chandrika 12*, Singh 29*. Some minor adjustments to the batsmen's scores upon confirmation with the official scorers.
11ov [. 4 . 4 3 .] 49/1: Chandrika 14*, Singh 24*. Singh edges past third slip. All the fielders have their hands on their heads. That was just a few inches away from hand. Singh is playing positively and taking some risks as well but there is no need for such an approach. He drives square for four now. Turns onto the on side, through the vacant mid wicket position for 3. Runs flowing for Guyana.
Second bowling change. Pedro Collins is off and Corey Edwards is on.
10ov [. . 2 . 2 .] 38/1: Chandrika 10*, Singh 13*. Chandrika edges past slip and gets two then drives through covers for 2 more.
9ov [. . . . . 4] 30/1: Chandrika 8*, Singh 13*. Singh cuts beautifully, inches past Kirk Edwards at backward point. He gives up the chase immediately. 4.
8ov [. . . . . .] 30/1: Chandrika 8*, Singh 13*. Starts with a maiden does with Windies left arm spinner, Benn.
It's Big Benn time. He's returning from injury having missed the first four games of the season and Sulieman Benn comes into the attack replacing Tino Best. Benn gets an early bowl, on inside the first 10 overs!
7ov [. . 1 . . 1lb] 30/1: Chandrika 8*, Singh 13*.
6ov [4 . . . 1 1] 28/1: Chandrika 7*, Singh 13*. Singh stands at the crease and pulls Best with utter and thorough disdain and contempt. Pugnacious shot. That really was dismissed from his presence. It blisters past Umpire Norman Malcolm for 4.
5ov [. 2 . 4 1 .] 22/1: Chandrika 6*, Singh 8*. Singh plays a master shot. Onto the backfoot and steers the ball deftly between the two men at gully and the man at point for 4.
Pedro Collins bowling at the top end to Gajanand Singh.
4ov [. . . . W nb 1] 15/1: Chandrika 6*, Singh 1*. Gajanand Singh is the new batsman and gets off the mark with a single. Tino Best completed the over he started before lunch.
Back after lunch. Lovely cool conditions. Steady breeze flowing across the ground.
LUNCH: In reply to Barbados' 403 Guyana are 13 for 1 in the fourth over of the innings. Lunch was taken at the fall of captain Sewnarine Chattergoon's wicket. He was caught by Corey Edwards off Tino Best for 1. Rajendra Chandrika is not out on 6.
BOWLING: Bess 16-1-84-1, Barnwell 18-1-83-2, Permaul 17-1-54-0, Mohammed 27-5-60-2, R Crandon 11-2-30-0, Bishoo 24.4-2-75-5
113ov [. . . W] 403 all out: Collins 12*.
WICKET: C Edwards c&b Bishoo 5. Edwards chips back to the bowler who takes a good low catch. Bishoo gets a five-fer. He was not always consistent but he picked up wickets and kudos to him.
112ov [. . 4 . . .] 403/9: Collins 12*, Edwards 5*. Collins brings up the 400 with a boundary through mid wicket.
Mohammed is off and is replaced by Veerasammy Permaul.
111ov [1 . . . . 4] 399/9: Collins 8*, Edwards 5*. Edwards goes over mid on for a boundary to take Barbados within a single of 400.
110ov [1b 1 1 . 4lb 1] 394/9: Collins 8*, Edwards 1*. A productive over for the Bajans with 5 leg byes and three singles. Creeping up to that 400 mark.
109ov [. . . . . .] 386/9: Collins 6*, Edwards 0*. Maiden over by Bishoo who is finally flighting the ball and looking to spin it consistently.
108ov [. 2 . . . 3] 386/9: Collins 6*, Edwards 0*. Pedro Collins goes over the mid wicket region and gets 3.
Barbados have fallen away through indiscipline after a fine effort on the first day when they ended on 326 for 5. They now face the realistic possibility of going down for under 400.
107ov [. . . . . W] 381/9: Collins 1*, Edwards 0*. Bishoo takes his fourth wicket now. Best gifted that wicket to him though. Poor shot.
WICKET: T Best b Bishoo 15. 381/9. Best plays back - very poor choice of shot - misses and is bowled down. The delivery was a tad quicker and Corey Edwards, the number 11, walks out.
106ov [. . . . . .] 381/8: Best 15*, Collins 1*. Maiden over by Mohammed who is bowling with four fielders around the bat.
105ov [. W . . 1 4] 381/8: Best 15*, Collins 1*. Bishoo takes his third wicket of the innings. He is now Guyana's leading wickettaker. Best pulls the last delivery to the mid wicket fence.
WICKET: S Dowrich lbw Bishoo 24. 376/8. Dowrich tries to sweep and misses. Plumb lbw as he was struck low on the pad. Straightforward lbw decision. Pedro Collins is promoted in the order ahead of Corey Edwards. Or perhaps seniority took the precedent there. It's not often that Collins is not batting at number 11.
104ov [. . 2 . 4 .] 376/7: Dowrich 24*, Best 11*. Best smashes a full toss through covers for four. Poor delivery from Mohammed and punished by Tino.
103ov [4 . . . 1 .] 370/7: Dowrich 24*, Best 5*. Bishoo bowling fast and flat and now short as well. Not flighting the ball at all.
102ov [. 1 . W . .] 365/7: Dowrich 24*, Best 0*. A sharp over by Mohammed to start. Guyana have taken the initiative this morning after a few boundaries by Stoute. Tino Best is the new batsman.
WICKET: S Benn c Sub (Singh) b Mohammed 2. 365/7. Mohammed strikes in his first over. Benn tries to go high over mid wicket but is in no control of the shot and it is skied. Vishaul Singh, the substitute takes a fine running catch.

Brandon Bess is removed from the attack and Zaheer Mohammed, who really bowled well yesterday, comes on.
101ov [W . . . 1 .] 364/6: Dowrich 24*, Benn 1*. Bishoo removes Stoute via the lbw route. Four more wickets for Guyana to get before they can commence their run chase. Benn turns behind square for a single to get off strike. Remember the second new ball is due but it has not yet been taken.
WICKET: K Stoute lbw Bishoo 49. 363/6. Stoute plays forward and is taken on the pad. Loud appeal goes up and Umpire Barrasingha agrees and raises the finger. Stoute painfully misses a half century by one run.
100ov [. 2 1 . . 2] 363/5: Stoute 49*, Dowrich 24*. Kevin Stoute closes in on his second half century this season. Just one run away.
Brandon Bess continues from the Northern End with a strong wind on his back.
99ov [. . . 2 . .] 358/2: Stoute 46*, Dowrich 22*. Dowrich looking confident. Turns down the leg side for 2.
First bowling change of the day. Barnwell is off and Devendra Bishoo the leg spinner is into the attack to bowl on his home ground but no home crowd as yet. More folks to come in later on though.
98ov [. 3 4 4 . .] 356/5: Stoute 46*, Dowrich 20*. A glrious pull by Stotue through mid wicket then he runs on past gully for four. Barbados continue to motor along and the 350 is brought up very quickly.
Welcome to Albion Sports Complex for day two of Guyana v Barbados. Again we've been setback by some internet access issues but we've managed to have the situation rectified after a short space of time. Brandon Bess and Christopher Barnwell. Bess to bowl his third over of the morning and the fifth for the day.
STUMPS, DAY 1: Barbados are 326 for 5 from 93 overs with Kevin Stoute on 36 and Shane Dowrich on 5. Ryan Hinds top scored with a pugnacious 76 and Jason Haynes made a measured 69. Dale Richards hit a typically aggressive 55 and Kirk Edwards missed out on a half century by 6 runs. Bowling: Bess 12-1-60-1, Barnwell 15-0-77-2, Permaul 16-1-50-0, Mohammed 22-4-45-1, R Crandon 11-2-30-0, Bishoo 17-0-57-1. Join us at 10 am tomorrow for day two as the Guyanese look to finish off the Bajan innings but they it will not be an easy task. Have a good evening
93ov [. . . . 1 .] 326/5: Stotue 36*, Dowrich 5*. Fine bowling by Brandon Bess to end the day's play. Short and accurate. Had some pace too and Dowrich was jumping. Bess had to be cranked up by the crowd though. They weren't happy with his full line wide of off stump and he responded and made Dowrich looks very uncomfortable with a couple of short balls. Last ball of the day was short too but harmless as the well set Stoute on 36 ducked under.
92ov [. 1 . 2 . 1] 325/5: Stoute 36*, Dowrich 4*. Dowrich has settled into batting with the ease of a snugly fitting glove here. No nerves, no tentativeness. Scoring singles quite easily and confidently.
91ov [. . W 1 1 .] 321/5: Stoute 35*, Dowrich 1*. Dowrich off the mark with a single behind square after the delivery which got Edwards. Bess gets his first wicket of the day.
WICKET: K Edwards lbw Bess 44. Stuck on the crease and looking to play into the on side and misses. Struck on the pad, it looked high but Umpire Norman Malcolm raises the finger in response to the Guyanese appeal. Edwards misses a 50. It was vociferous appeal. New batsman is the no-nonsense Shane Dowrich on debut. He's a puny fella! Even smaller than Carlton Baugh.
90ov [. . . . 2b 4] 319/4: Edwards 44*, Stoute 34*. Sweetly driven through mid wicket by Stoute for 4. Barbados cruising along as they have done for most of the day.
It is Barnwell to share the new ball with Bess. Can he have better luck.
89ov [. . . . . .] 313/4: Edwards 44*, Stoute 30*. Lucky escape for Edwards. Edwards offers no shot to Bess and everyone except Umpire Norman Malcolm thinks that's out. He's the man whose decision matters most though. Bess must feel hard done there.
Second new ball taken. Bess comes back to use it and presumably it will be Barnwell to share it with him.
88ov [1 . 1 1 . .] 313/4: Edwards 44*, Stoute 30*,
87ov [1 1 . 1 . .] 310/4: Edwards 42*, Stoute 29*. Easy like a Sunday afternoon stroll on the seawalls in Georgetown - that's how Edwards and Stoute are going along at the moment. Untroubled, unhurried and scoring with freedom.
86ov [. . . . 1 .] 307/4: Edwards 40*, Stoute 28*.
85ov [. . . 2 . .] 306/4: Edwards 39*, Stoute 28*.
Previous mention of Permaul's jerky action was not to suggest that he has some questionable degree of flexion in the elbow. It's that he rocks almost violently in his delivery stride then delivers with a vicious contortion of the body. He's not quite a frog-in-the-blender like Paul Adams but he's perhaps more like a frog-in-a-washing-machine.
84ov [. . 4 . . .] 304/4: Edwards 39*, Stoute 26*. Permaul allowing Edwards some room outside off stump and he plays a phenomenal back foot drive for four.
300 run mark reached. It was done with consummate ease.
83ov [1 1 1 . . .] 300/4: Edwards 35*, Stoute 26*.
82ov [. 1 2 . . .] 297/4: Edwards 33*, Stoute 25*. 50 run partnership between Edwards and Stoute up now. Another partnership which is causing headaches for Guyana.
81ov [1 . . . 1 .] 294/4: Edwards 32*, Stoute 23*.
80ov [. . . . 1 4] 292/4: Edwards 31*, Stoute 22*. On drive by Edwards for four.
Permaul with that extremely jerky action continues after the drinks break.
79ov [2 . . . . 1] 287/4: Edwards 27*, Stoute 21*. Drinks.
78ov [4 4 . . . .] 284/4: Edwards 27*, Stoute 18*. Edwards pulls the first ball for 4. A harsh welcome back into the attack for Permaul. Excellent sportsmanship by Christopher Barnwell off the second delivery. He chased a delivery to the cover boundary and fields the ball but his foot was over the boundary when he did so and he signaled to the umpire that it was a four. There are many players who would have done otherwise or plead ignorance. Well done young man! Cheers to you.
One home boy for another. Devendra Bishoo is taken out of the attack and Veerasammy Permaul comes on.
77ov [1 . . 1 1 .] 276/4: Edwards 19*, Stoute 18*.
76ov [1 . . 4 1 1] 273/4: Edwards 17*, Stoute 17*. Straight driven by Kevin Stoute. Classy shot. 4.
75ov [. . . . 1 .] 266/4: Edwards 15*, Stoute 12*.
74ov [1 . 3 4 . .] 263/4: Edwards 14*, Stoute 12*. Exquisitely bisecting cover and short extra cover for four by Stoute
73ov [1 1 . 1 1 .] 256/4: Edwards 11*, Stoute 7*. Constant singles. Both batsmen playing smartly, focusing on singles.
72ov [1 . . . . .] 253/4: Edwards 9*, Stoute 5*. Tidy over by Bishoo.
71ov [. . . . . .] 252/4: Edwards 8*, Stoute 5*. The two new batsmen playing watchfully and looking to get a start and build a partnership after the loss of two entrenched batsmen. Maiden over by Mohammed.
70ov [1 . . . . .] 252/4: Edwards 8*, Stoute 5*. Just a single from the over. Bishoo looping the ball nicely.
69ov [. . 2 . . .] 251/4: Edwards 8*, Stoute 4*. Stroked into the on side for two. Play held up for a short while to allow some goats to pass behind the bowler. One of the ball boys is now running around chasing the goats off the field but he's having a tough time.
68ov [1 W . . 4 .] 249/4: Edwards 6*, Stoute 4*. Bishoo makes the breakthrough. First wicket after tea. Stoute gets off the mark with a lofted hit over the bowler's head. Very aggressive intent from the inception from the right hander. The fourth Bajan batsman misses out on a triple figure score though.
WICKET: J Haynes lbw Bishoo 69. 245/4. Haynes goes half forward and is taken on the pad. He was struck low down and Umpire Barrasingha approves the appeal. Haynes is not entirely pleased with the verdict but he must depart. His replacement is Kevin Stoute.
67ov [1 . . . . .] 244/3: Haynes 69*, Edwards 5*. An over of appeal. Mohammed raps Haynes on the pad repeatedly as he looks to play across the line and into the acres of space on the onside. Umpire Norman Malcolm is unmoved though.
Zaheer Mohammed comes back into the attack. This is long overdue. Christopher Barnwell is taken off to accommodate Mohammed's off spin.
66ov [. 1 . . . .] 243/3: Haynes 69*, Edwards 4*. The difference a wicket makes. Haynes is a lot more tentative now since the loss of his captain Ryan Hinds who really bullied the bowling for 76.
65ov [. 2 1lb . 3 .] 242/3: Haynes 69*, Edwards 3*. Brandon Bess misfields at mid on allow Haynes a second run. Bess has been extremely poor today in the field. He's given away about 10 runs all by himself. Edwards off the mark with an on drive which is pulled in just inside the boundary by Bess who does better on this occasion after a long chase.
64ov [. . . . 1 .] 236/3. Haynes 67*, Edwards 0*. Loud shout for caught behind by Bishoo off Edwards. Bishoo continues to flight the ball in the first over after tea.
We've been beset by technical problems here at Albion today. Just before tea we had a power outage. Tea was taken at 235/3 with Jason Haynes on 66* and Kirk Edwards not yet off the mark. Barnwell has 2 for 65 and Mohammed 1 for 21. We're back after tea now and we're keeping our fingers crossed for a plague free final session.
61ov [4 . W . . .] 233/3: Haynes 64*, Edwards 0*. Even Haynes at the non-strikers end kicked the turf when Hinds was out. He knew what a poor shot it was and how soft a dismissal it was. It was a short delivery outside off stump that Hinds for some inexplicable reason steered it to gully as if it were morning catching practice. Barnwell benefits and then sends down some sharp deliveries just short of a full length to Edwards.
WICKET: R Hinds c R Crandon b Barnwell 76. 233/3. Hinds steers the ball straight to Royston Crandon at gully. He's wicking the turf all the way pack to the pavilion. And he should be kicking himself. He had a hundred for the taking and let it slip away. That dismissal was soft like bad ice cream. Kirk Edwards is the new batsman.
60ov [. 1 1 . 4 .] 229/2: Haynes 64*, Hinds 72*. DROPPED! Hinds drives with power back to Bishoo who dives and gets both hands but fails to hold on to what would have been a stinging catch. Bad miss though.
59ov [. . . 4 2 .] 223/2: Haynes 59*, Hinds 71*. Flicked fine and the ball scorches across the bare outfield for 4. Hinds is pressing ahead.
There is a bowling change but it is not pace for spin. Brandon Bess is off and he is replaced by Christopher Barnwell who will bowl his brisk medium pace.
58ov [2 . . 1 1 1] 217/2: Haynes 59*, Hinds 65*. It just looks as though a wicket is a virtual impossibility for Guyana. So in command are Hinds and Haynes. It looks, at this stage that only they can conspire to bring about their own demise. Batting with consummate ease. Off spinner Zaheer Mohammed and left arm orthodox spinner Veerasammy Permaul bowled well either side of lunch and were, by some distance Guyana's most successful bowlers. It should not be too long before one of those two returns if not both.
Bishoo bowls to Ryan Hinds.
57ov [. 4 . 4 4 1] 212/2: Haynes 58*, Hinds 61*. Disdainful! Hinds stands on his back foot and pulls a Bess short ball through mid wicket for four. He too cashes in on a fifty. It's been a long time that we've seen two batsmen look so untroubled and batting so freely at the crease in regional cricket. They really are just doing as they please. Now Hinds goes over extra cover. He picked his spot and he knows once the ball gets to that large bald spot in front the pavilion it will race away to the boundary and it does. 4 more. Short ball again by Bess and Hinds stands and smashes it just wide of Bess in his follow through, the man at mid on dives but misses and it scoots away for 4 more. Runs, runs, runs and more runs for the Bajan bats. The Guyanese fielders seemed to have resigned themselves to the fact that they will be chasing leather until Barbados declares and then they will have their time on this superb batting paradise.
56ov [4 . 2 . 4 .] 199/2: Haynes 58*, Hinds 48*. Stroked away! Haynes brings up his 50 with a scorching drive through extra cover. Not a fielder moved. Literally no one did. The ball boy on the boundary retrieved and returned. That's the way to bring up your fifty. Follows up with a mistimed drive just past mid off. It bounced in front of him and was just straight enough to go past and go for four. The Bajan batsmen are enjoying themselves here. They are collecting runs at will almost. Third fifty in a row for Haynes. He stroked half centuries v Windward Islands in their previous match at Kensington Oval.
55ov [4 1b 4 . 1 1] 189/2: Haynes 48*, Hinds 48*. Haynes flashes hard and gets an edge which flies through the vacant third slip. Glorious drive by Hinds through extra cover. He gracefully slides onto the front foot and drove that imperiously for four. Oooh! What a shot! Contender for shot of the day.
54ov [1 . . . . .] 178/2: Haynes 43*, Hinds 43*. Bishoo is showing his full reportoire of variations in flight. He's looping the ball, then bowling slower, then flatter and faster. This is his home turf, he knows this pitch well, he knows that he has to pull out his full bag of tricks to smell success.
53ov [1 . 4 . . .] 177/2: Haynes 42*, Hinds 43*. Stand and deliver! Hinds plants his feet at the crease and just launches that high and wide of extra cover. 4! Audacious shot against the Guyanese quick. Hinds is batting authoritatively here. If he gets out before scoring a century he'll be banging his head against the dressing room wall for hours. Dale Richards (55) and Kraigg Brathwaite (33) must still be so engaged.
Two slips, a gully, point, sweeper on the cover boundary, extra cover, mid off, mid on, man on the backward square boundary. That's the field that Captain Sewnarine Chattergoon has in place for Brandon Bess.
52ov [. . . 1 . .] 172/2: Haynes 41*, Hinds 39*. Bishoo flighting the ball generously and trying to get some drift with that strong wind blowing across the ground. Very encouraging sight from the leggie.
51ov [. 1 1 1 . .] 171/2: Haynes 40*, Hinds 39*. Turning over the strike for consecutive singles. Bess aiming to hold a line just in that channel outside off stump.
The tall, gangly Brandon Bess comes back into the attack at the Northern End. He was struggling for a decent line and event length with the new ball. He'll want to improve on that this time round.
50ov [. . . . 1 . .] 168/2: Haynes 38*, Hinds 38*. Swept behind square for a single and it's drinks. Both batsmen look as though they will march to half centuries here. No terrors whatsoever. Both Richards and Brathwaite were batting with such commanding ease in the morning session until both of them surrendered their hands.
49ov [1 4 . 4 . .] 167/2: Haynes 37*, Hinds 38*. Hinds goes for another muscular shot. Over wide mid on. He's targeting that region and goes over it again. Two fours! Same, identical shot. Hinds moves past Haynes now.
48ov [. . . 1 . .] 158/2: Haynes 36*, Hinds 30*. Risky single taken by Haynes. Stumps were thrown down at the non-striker's end by Haynes was marginally home. That was rather iffy. No need for frantic singles, they are both batting exceptionally well here in lovely breezy conditions on a beautiful batting pitch and a fast outfield.
47ov [. . 1 . . .] 157/2: Haynes 35*, Hinds 30*. Sharp over by Crandon. He's not flighting it but pitching on that off stump line forcing the batsmen to play but not giving them room to free their arms.
Royston Crandon continues to Haynes.
46ov [. 4 2 . . .] 156/2: Haynes 34*, Hinds 30*. Hinds goes over the vacant long on for four. Powerful shot. Follows up by stroking Devendra Bishoo - who is bowling his second over - wide of mid wicket for a double. He moves into the 30s.
Barbados left out Jason Holder and Sharmarh Brooks while Guyana have left out Esuan Crandon, Vishaul Singh and Trevor Benn. Assad Fudadin is on the injured list.
45ov [. 1 . . 1 .] 150/2: Haynes 34*, Hinds 24*. 150 up for Barbados who are mostly batting in cruise control.
Royston Crandon is bowling at the Northern End and Jason Haynes, the in form left hander is facing. The big news from the Guyanese camp is that Shiv Chanderpaul has recovered from that finger injury and is making an appearance for Guyana. Huge boost for Guyana.
Good day and welcome to the Albion Sports Complex. We've had technical difficulties all morning for which we offer profuse apologies but we're on now and will be able to bring most of the post lunch session. Barbados won the toss opted to bat. Dale Richards made 55 and teenage sensation playing in his first game of the season made 33. Both were out in the first session and the visitors went to lunch at 113/2 with Jason Haynes on 20 and captain Ryan Hinds on 3. Christopher Barnwell took the wicket of Richards while Zaheer Mohammed got Brathwaite.

Well no suprise there, Chanderpaul receiving the Man of the Match Award for his 105* and 32* holding both innings together as clearly he was the difference in the match. Other notable performances, E. Crandon 8-73, D. Bishoo 7-105 and O. Banks 60 and 49 in the match. So from us here at the National Cricket Centre in Balmain, Couva thank you for joining us and be sure to tune in next weekend for what looks to be a Championship Deciding match Between Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica. Good Bye.
Again, what could've been had the Leewards scored another 75 runs, would've made for a very interesting day. Stay tuned for the Presentation Ceremony to find out who receives the man of the match award, my money is on Chanderpaul, who played two crucial knocks in both innings and hasn't been dismissed, man he loves to bat!

45ov [. . . . . .] 95/5 Chanderpaul 28* Bishoo 0* Bishoo seems to be in no big a hurry like Christian was as he sees out that Athanaze over. Still 3 needed!
